Get spring cleaning with our cruelty-free brands
15th April 2024
Whether you love it or hate it, when the days start getting a little warmer and longer, it’s time to get your rubber gloves on and spring clean!
We all want spotless homes and it’s great to use cruelty-free products in the process. Our Compassionate Shopping Guide can help you find household products with squeaky clean ethics.
Cleaning the whole house can seem a little daunting, so break it down into rooms and do it bit-by-bit over a week, or maybe you’d rather get it all done in a day! We’ll leave that choice up to you.
Below are some of our top picks for cruelty-free cleaning products. So, open the windows, let the fresh air in and let’s get started!
Top eco-friendly brands
We’ve endorsed Bio-D since we launched the Compassionate Shopping Guide in 1993 and they’re still one of our favourite cruelty-free cleaning brands. They have a huge range of products and offer refills in many independent health stores. Plus, all of their products are manufactured here in the UK.
We also recommend checking out Planet Detox. They offer a range of eco-friendly cleaning products that not only smell amazing, but they’re completely plastic free, too. They also have starter cleaning kits available.
Best budget-friendly buys
Ecoleaf, which is owned by Suma Wholefoods, is a cruelty-free, plant based brand that has a great range of cleaning, dishwashing and laundry products, which don’t break the bank.
When we’re talking budget-friendly, we just have to mention Fabulosa. Easily available on the high street, they have a huge range of products that come in scents with names like ‘Pixie Dust’ and ‘Endless Weekend’. What’s not to love?
For deep cleaning
Another brand we have endorsed since the start of the Compassionate Shopping Guide is Astonish. As well as having a fantastic range of general household cleaning products, they also have some great specialty products for limescale, mould and mildew, plus oven cleaning products. If you’re planning to clean your home from top-to-bottom, they’ve got you covered.
Organic cleaning
It can be tricky to find organic household cleaning products but, fortunately, there are some great companies like Greenscents. Their products are organic, palm oil-free, eco-friendly and vegan. Plus their products are naturally scented with essential oils like bergamot, lavender and orange, which will make your home smell amazing.
Best for sensitive skin
Sometimes cleaning products can irritate sensitive skin. Ecozone have a range of products that are Allergy UK approved, including laundry, cleaning and dishwashing products.
Home fragrances
Once you’ve got your home sparkling and clean, we recommend taking a look at Waft natural air fresheners to keep your cruelty-free home smelling fresh. Or, if you prefer a candle or wax melt, check out Amour Natural’s range of essential oils based products.
